Lately, we’ve seen how bad weather can leave us all on our own, with no way to reach out. Signal Fire

Long before we had cell phones or satellite phones, people used smoke signals to send messages over long distances. Native American tribes were really good at this. They would light fires and make smoke patterns to send warnings, tell others where they were, or just say hi.

Using flags to talk is another useful, old method. People would hold up flags in certain ways to send different messages, like if they were in trouble or just to share where they were.
